Jeanean Songco Martin

Jeanean, Buck's CountyJEANEAN SONGCO MARTIN is a Maryland painter, art educator and musician.  The main focus of her work for the past thirty years has been “plein air painting” and figurative work.  Jeanean is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art receiving a B.F.A. in painting. Jeanean is very active in the arts community with portrait and life drawing groups. She loves painting the Maryland countryside as well as traveling to distant locations to teach and to work. She has taught at Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College, Hood College, Montgomery College, Carroll Community College, Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, Rockville Arts Place and is currently a resident artist and instructor at the Griffin Art Center and Yellow Barn Studio.   She has conducted plein-air workshops nationally in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Georgia, South Carolina and abroad in Ireland, England, France and Germany. She exhibits widely and has had solo exhibits at universities and colleges.  Jeanean is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, Maryland Federation of Art. Her work may be seen  at Studio E  4 a W. 5th Street, Frederick, MD 21701 at the Griffin Art Center in Frederick, MD.
